Some people organize, some people read, some people run. But, we MUST bake. Yeah, yeah we love to organize, craft, and exercise, but when we get to indulge in a sweet cheat everything seems A-Ok at least for a little while. Easter will be different this year, but it doesn’t have to be less tasty. Our Better Than A Chocolate Easter Bunny Trifle will help us briefly ease our fears and put chocolate mustache smiles on our families’ faces!
Those who know us well, know that we are two of the biggest rule followers you will find. However, come Halloween we tend to break a few rules. And the biggest no-no we commit is stealing. Stealing candy from our kids, that is. If it were acceptable for adults to trick-or-treat, we would be at every neighbor’s door. Instead we have to rely our on children to bring home the goodies. This Saturday we using these goodies to create Candy Bar Mini Bundt Cakes. And of course we will pay it forward and share with our loved ones. Just don’t tell them where the candy bars came from! 😉
- 1 box of yellow cake mix, plus ingredients on the back of the box
- Assorted Halloween chocolate bars
- Buttercream frosting
• 1/2 cup butter, room temp
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 3 3/4 cup confectioners sugar
• 5 tbsp almond milk
• 1 tsp flavoring (vanilla)
Make cake mix according to directions on the back of the box.
Pour cake mix into a greased mini bundt cake pan and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
While cakes cool make the buttercream frosting.
Once cakes are cool frost them, top with candy bars, and enjoy!
Even though our kiddos started school this week, it is only August and we are trying to hold onto any last bits of summer. Nothin says summer like ice cream sundaes. Around here we like to make things extra cutesy so we grabbed a few jars, some yummy toppings, a few flavors of ice cream and created our own ice cream sundae bar. From there we layered up the most deliciousy,
adorable ice cream sundaes in town. Summer never tasted so sweet!
Hooray! The 2015 holiday season is over- said NO ONE ever! What are we to do with the Christmas candies, snacks, and goodies we have spilling out of our cabinets? We certainly don’t need them lurking around to tempt us much longer! Getting rid of it all in Kitchen Cabinet Cookie Butter Crunch seems the obvious choice to cure our cheating and treating addiction that seems to happen every year at this time. A much needed sugar break is a must for 2016. (At least until next Saturday!) Happy New Year!

We love getting together with our BFFs. And one of the best things is the excuse to make GORP. We’ve shared this wonderful recipe a few times. Essentially it’s a mix of our favorite ingredients, including m&ms, Rolos and chocolate chip Teddy Graham’s. Since our girl time took place on Friday, we decided to carry over our love of GORP and make GORP infused chocolate chip cookies for our Saturday sweet treat. It’s the treat that keeps on giving!

It’s not exactly fall yet, but it’s September and that means it’s time to go apple picking! There’s nothing better than hand selecting the main ingredient for this Saturday’s temptation, Apple Nachos! No cheese, no meat, no cooking at all. Just crisp, juicy apple slices covered with yummy toppings and gooey caramel and hot fudge. The options are endless and sure to satisfy everyone!
- 3 apples sliced thin
- caramel topping
- hot fudge topping
- M&Ms plain and peanut
- Heath bits
- dark chocolate chips
Cut apples into thin slices and arrange in a circular pattern on plate. Drizzle warm caramel and hot fudge topping over the apple slices. Sprinkle with M&Ms, Heath bits, and dark chocolate chips, or add your own favorite toppings. Delish!
Every time we get together with our girlfriends we make our favorite take a-long treat, GORP. It’s one of the easiest cheat day treats that we make. We first learned of this treat back in our teaching days when fellow colleagues concocted this amazing mix of sweet and salty goodness. One person called it brain food. Another called it GORP, which stood for Good Ole Raisin Peanuts. We’ve adapted our GORP and our recipe doesn’t really contain raisins or peanuts, unless you count Peanut M&Ms. The beauty of this treat is that you can literally throw in any type of candy or snack that you wish. Just mix what you like in a giant bowl and put the ingredients in a baggie to share with your girlfriends or loved ones. It’s always a hit when we get together with our besties.

- 1 bag pretzel sticks
- 1 box Chocolate Chip Teddy Grahams
